Allergies! Allergies!

Its that time of year. Pollen is in the air causing itchy, runny noses, itchy watery eyes and sneezing. Some people get congestion which can lead to worse symptoms like upper respiratory infections like sinusitus and in some cases respiratory distress in your lungs.

Did you know the Lord has provided for you the necessary medicine that is probably growing you your back yard right now in the months of Feburary - June?

One of them is called STINGING NETTLE.

Stinging Nettle is a perennial flowering plant that has been used medicinally for ages, dating back as far as ancient Greece. Regarding seasonal allergies, stinging nettle has been shown to have excellent anti-inflammatory abilities; in fact, studies have shown that the bioactive components of stinging nettle can actually inhibit multiple inflammatory events. This is important because it is those inflammatory events that actually cause seasonal allergy symptoms.

Stinging Nettle can be locally harvested or purchased at your local health food store.

Harvesting stinging nettle is the best but is tricky because those little needles sticking out from the stem of the plant will sting for a day or more with no harm done other than discomfort. So when harvesting you must wear thick gloves (like welding gloves) or us long shears to cut them. Then put them in a colander to wash them and strain off liquid and allow them to dry.

Since I have been harvesting them over the past year, I have grown accustomed to the sting and have learned how to handle them with the minimal amount of discomfort.

Putting fresh Nettle in a cup of water for tea will eliminate the stinging power of the needles allowing you to enjoy and nutritious cup of tea.

Use the dried leaves in a loose leaf tea infuser

Or you can put them in a tea pot with freshly boiled water.

Never boil your herbs, just let thems steep in the hot water. You will see the goodness seeping out when the water turns green, then potentially cooper or red. This is Gods creation. No artifical colors added :).

Anyway you use it, you will reap the benefits of a highly nutritious, allergy relieving tea. No bitter taste.

Stinging Nettle is high in Potassium, Calcium, Vitamin A, Magnesium, Iron, B6 and Fiber.

God also gave us Garlic, Onion, Ginger, Turmeric and Chili peppers (very high in Vit C and helps with congestion), Raw Local Honey (Lake City Fl = Thomas Honey) and more.

When you eat these RAW it will help prevent a host of bacteria as well as relieve unpleasant allergy and cold symptoms.

Also "My Masters Tonic" has all of the above ingredients and more, so check out our blog we posted in 2017 on that.

I believe you can't avoid the allergy causing pollen. But, if you use natural remedies to relieve your symptoms, each year the symptoms get less bothersome.

Also remember there are irritants that can exacerbate allergy symptoms like, dairy products (helps to produce mucus and congestion), smoking(irritates upper respiratory tract), alcohol(weakens the immune system), sugar( weakens the immune symptoms, invites, yeast and infection) and poor diet (a diet low in leaf greens, fiber and Vit C and other nutrtients the body needs to function will weaken the immune system as well).

Living a holistic lifestyle can carry you a long way.

Psalm 103:1-3 New International Version (NIV)

1 Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,
