Its Harvest Time

It has been a busy summer and I hope you all have enjoyed yourself as much as I have.

Our homestead is growing fast and we are striving to keep up with it.

As you can see we are harvesting a few vegetables from our garden. Sweet potatoes, a carrot or two, mizuna greens, peppers, collard greens, kale, cantaloupe, watermelon, okra, lots of herbs and a few onions from last fall.

Though our harvest wasn't enough to sell this year, we are planting this fall lots of lettuce, kale, broccoli, cabbage, spinach, watermelon, spaghetti squash and more. Lord willing we will be able to sell our organic crop all through the summer of 2019.

Since pictures speak louder than words here are a couple of before and after photos:

The little white puppy is our livestock guardian dog Queenie. She was 3 month old then.

Here she is at seven months old.

Pork Chop and Ham in August.

Here are some of our garden vegetables and flowers.

Anise Hyssop, the leaves and flowers taste like licorice.

Zucchini, kale (underneath zucchini), collards, basil, Okinawa spinach and chicory.

Moringa Tree, the leaves are the most nutritious part of the plant, being a significant source of B vitamins, vitamin C, provitamin A as beta-carotene, vitamin K, manganese, and protein, among other essential nutrients. Moringa trees have been used to combat malnutrition, especially among infants and nursing mothers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moringa_oleifera

Also in this picture you will find, okra, mullein, grapevine on trellis and lemongrass

Mizuna mustard leaf, grows fast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mizuna

Plum tree, okra, mullein, purslane, thyme, turmeric, asparagus, peas and comfrey.

These are just a couple of the many garden beds we have in this yard.

Gardening is a way of life, relaxation and more importantly a way for me to connect with God. I enjoy listening to the bible in the morning while I am outside in the garden piddling around and watching His wonderful and amazing creations grow.
