Arsenic in Chickens

Today someone shared a website with me about how FDA found 70% inorganic cancer causing arsenic in chickens sold for human consumption in the U.S.

What makes this so bad is the FDA knew about this for years. Even though the American Chicken Council states “Chicken is safe to eat,” many poultry producers have stopped feeding their birds the ingredient, which was used to kill parasites and promote growth.

This is exactly why we started our homestead. We want to know what is in our food. There are too many unrecognizable ingredients in processed foods. Our produce is most likely a Genetically Modified Organism unless it is USDA certified organic and our meats have been feed and medicated chemicals that get transferred to us when we eat it.

Years of consumption are bound to have an affect on our immune system, heart, liver, kidneys etc.

Though the # 2 secret is diet, I can't help but think of the type of food they ate when they were growing up. Food that gave them the building blocks for a long healthy life. I would imagine homegrown, non gmo, organic food.

Artificial coloring in your food is just one additive. There are many other chemicals in a lot of your ingredients list, meats and even your vegetables that can have the average person concerned about what they are consuming.

For example, Triacetin , also known as glyceryl triacetate, has been approved and generally recognized as safe by the FDA as a food additive. It is an artificial chemical compound. In food, it is used as a plasticizer for chewing gum and gummy candy. It can be used to keep food from drying out and in some cookies, muffins and cakes. It is also used in perfume, cosmetics and cigarette filters and in drugs like Viagra.

"But if you eat it in moderation", they say. Once you check the Nutrition Facts Label on the container, you will quickly realize the serving size is much smaller than you thought. Thereby eliminating moderation when you have already eaten 3 or more servings.

There used to be a time when I didn't care where my food came from, how it was processed or what was in it, just as long as it tasted good.

That was until I discovered that you are what you eat and food can be your medicine.

What I ate made me sick and until I realized this and reversed my thinking and eating habits I was going to stay sick.

There are many of us whom have chosen a cleaner life style. We have reversed illnesses such as Lupus, Arthritis, Kidney Disease, Diabetes and more. There are many of us taking it further, living on homesteads that allows us to control 90% of what we consume, so we can stay healthy.

It is very rewarding not only knowing that the Lord has given you everything you need to be self sustaining, but also that it works! A wholesome diet of clean homegrown (free) organic vegetables, non-medicated non-gmo grass fed meat, exercise and sunshine can make and keep you healthy.

We are working on being the next healthy and happy Centenarians.
